Visit AmplifyGenAI.orgWhy UM Chose Amplify
UM selected Amplify GenAI to tackle real challenges our community faces with AI access and ensure everyone can benefit from these tools. More than just a platform, Amplify GenAI reflects UM's commitment to world-class educational technology while safeguarding our data privacy, controlling costs, and preserving academic freedom.
Closes the AI Divide
Equal Access for Everyone
Commercial AI services cost $20-200+ per person per month, creating barriers for students and faculty. UM provides free access for everyone in our community—including online students and those in rural and indigenous communities—because your financial situation shouldn't determine your access to cutting-edge tools.
Reliable & UM-Managed
Professional Infrastructure
Hosted on UM's managed AWS infrastructure. This provides 24/7 reliability, professional security, and scale to serve the entire UM community, while UM IT maintains full control over policies and governance.
Privacy Protected
Your Data, Not Their Profit
Unlike commercial AI companies that mine your data to train their models and sell to advertisers, your conversations with Amplify aren't used to train AI models or sold to third parties. Your data stays within UM systems.
Always Free
No Cost Barriers
No subscription fees, usage limits, or premium tiers. The open-source platform means no vendor can price us out, ensuring sustainable access for the entire UM community. Everyone gets the same features and capabilities.
Coming Soon: Carbon Footprint Transparency
UM community expressed concerns about the environmental impact from AI. To that end, UM IT is developing a real-time carbon footprint tracker using AWS's carbon monitoring tools, so our campus community can see the environmental impact of our AI usage and make informed decisions.
Multiple AI Models in One Platform
Access leading AI models from different providers, each optimized for different types of tasks, all through one secure, consistent interface.
